About Library
The Central Library of Nani Bhattacharya Smarak Mahavidyalaya stands as a cornerstone of academic enrichment, supporting the teaching, learning, and research activities institution. Fully automated with the latest stable version of Koha Integrated Library Management System (ILMS – Version 24.05.09), the library offers seamless access to its wide-ranging services, including OPAC, circulation, cataloguing, member management, and remote login facilities for students and staff.
With a rich collection of 7,504 physical books and access to 197 e-books, the library also maintains an archive of question papers, 31 national and international journals, 78 reference books, and a documented rare collection. The subject-wise distribution reveals a strong emphasis on humanities and languages, including Bengali, Hindi, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and the regional language Nepali. A dedicated section for competitive exam books ensures support for career preparation.
The library subscribes to a wide variety of academic and general awareness journals, magazines, and newspapers in both English and Bengali, enhancing multidimensional knowledge development.
Complementing its physical resources, the library provides access to several national digital learning platforms such as SWAYAM, NPTEL, e-PG Pathshala, Vidya Mitra, SWAYAM PRABHA, and e-Gyankosh. These platforms offer an extensive array of e-learning content, online courses, and video lectures developed by prestigious institutions like IITs, IGNOU, UGC, and INFLIBNET. This ensures that learners, regardless of location, can engage with quality educational resources aligned with UGC credit-transfer policies.
The library infrastructure includes well-maintained reading spaces, dedicated teacher-student cubicles, a baggage counter, and user-friendly book arrangement through barcode systems. Personalized login credentials enable students and staff to access their borrowing history, digital books, and request services such as textbook reservations, book requisitions, and lost book reporting through online forms.
Through structured services and inclusive access strategies, the library fosters a balance between traditional and digital reading habits, supporting both academic rigor and holistic development. The adoption of modern ICT tools and the integration of e-resources underscore the library’s commitment to excellence, in alignment with NAAC’s vision of a digitally empowered academic environment.
